Chris Homer - Specialist cameraman
I use drones, robotics, cars, boats, helicopters, gimbals, wires, blimps, aerostats and rails in a variety of complex, high-pressure, and harsh environments around the world.
I’m often found bringing specialist cameras to a high-profile event, or creating exquisite cinematography on the snowy slopes of a mountain, with cold hands, an icy beard, sizzling steaks and a pot noodle.
Work Experience
I’ve worked with specialist cameras on thousands of occasions in over 30 countries. My work has taken me to Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and many more.
Before my career in the television industry, I embarked on a brief but impactful journey in the British Army. Initially serving as part of a reserve regiment of Challenger 2 main battle tank crewmen, I later underwent retraining for a dismounted combat infantry role. Eventually, I specialised as an ISTAR operator (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance). It was during this period that I earned the prestigious Brigadier's commendation for actions on operations in Iraq in 2008.

Be it weeks in the 47c heat of the Rajasthan desert, or the -37c chill and snow of a remote mountain top working 48-hour shifts in brutal conditions, I’ve enjoyed taking unmanned aerials to new limits.

I’ve flown close to 100 miles of potential oil and water pipeline routes, inspected a few miles of power lines, and 10-plus miles of railways, including a few HS2 sites. I’ve carried out everything from short regular surveys at construction sites, to complex 6 figure survey jobs at huge hospitals.

I attended practical courses on plumbing, electrics, decorating, groundworks, landscaping, roofing, kitchens, bathrooms, and most sides of the construction industry, with the thinking being that you had to know it to sell it.
