An Austrian Glimpse & A UK Winter Obsession: Mountain Stock Footage
Sometimes, the most interesting footage comes from unexpected moments. While recently digging through my extensive archives – terabytes upon terabytes accumulated over 17+ years of filming across the globe – I stumbled upon a small, forgotten collection of clips from Austria. It was captured somewhat serendipitously a few years back while driving through the picturesque region near Seefeld in the Tyrol. I had a gimbal rig running, capturing the journey, and the resulting footage offers a unique, dynamic perspective of Austrian streets, traditional buildings, and crucially, spectacular snow-capped mountains dominating the background.
This little find is now available as Clip Pack #198 - Austria Stock Footage Clips. It’s a small pack – just 7 gimbal clips totalling a couple of minutes – and because it's archive footage captured opportunistically from a moving vehicle (meaning stability might not be perfect cinematic standard), I’m offering it at a bargain archive price of just £149.
Austria stock footage preview
What’s in the Austrian Archive Pack?
Despite its spontaneous origins, the footage has real charm:
Alpine Drive: You get that sense of travelling through the Austrian landscape, navigating streets near Seefeld.
Traditional Architecture: Glimpses of old buildings and classic church spires typical of the region.
Snow-Capped Majesty: The real star is the backdrop – stunning white-topped mountains looming over the towns and tree-lined roads, providing that quintessential alpine feel.
Dynamic Motion: Being shot from a moving vehicle gives the clips an inherent energy and a specific point-of-view feel.
It’s perfect for quick cutaways, establishing a general Austrian or alpine travel vibe, or for creators looking for budget-friendly, characterful B-roll.
"Looking for winter mountain footage? Oh boy..."
Now, if seeing those spectacular white-topped Austrian mountains has you thinking, "I'm looking for winter mountain footage," oh boy... have you come to the right place! While that Austrian pack is a nice little archive find, my real passion, my obsession, the place where I've truly put in the hard yards (and endured more than a few Pot Noodles and icy beard situations!) is capturing the raw, dramatic beauty of the UK's mountains in the grip of winter.
Forget gentle snowfalls on quaint villages. I'm talking about proper mountain conditions: deep snowdrifts, frozen lakes, biting winds that threaten to rip the drone from the sky, temperatures plummeting well below freezing, and the sheer, exhilarating challenge of hiking, wild camping, and filming in that environment. It takes immense effort, hundreds of days out on the hills over many years, waiting hours – sometimes days – in relentless weather for that fleeting moment of perfect, dramatic light. But the results? Some of the most breathtaking, atmospheric, and authentic winter mountain stock footage you'll find anywhere. I genuinely believe it's the best available, precisely because of the effort and experience poured into capturing it.

Snowdonia National Park, Wales: The Epic Winter Playground
Snowdonia in winter is a different beast entirely. It demands respect but rewards with unparalleled drama.
Clip Pack #185 - Winter Camping in Snowdonia: This is the deep end! 231 clips documenting a multi-day hiking and wild camping trip in heavy snow and freezing temperatures across the Glyderau. Features stunning drone shots of snow-covered peaks (Tryfan, Y Garn, Glyder Fach/Fawr), frozen lakes (Llyn Idwal), dramatic ridges, alongside intense ground footage of hiking through deep snow, setting up camp beside a frozen lake, collecting water, battling icy winds, and the sheer reality of winter mountain survival. If you need footage that screams "extreme conditions," this is it.
Clip Pack #147 – Snowdonia Winter Landscapes Stock Video Footage & Timelapse: Another substantial collection (121 clips) focusing on the Carneddau range in winter. Includes incredible drone views of Ogwen Valley, Tryfan, Pen yr Ole Wen under snow, plus 15 stunning ProRes 422 timelapse sequences capturing shifting clouds over icy peaks, snow showers forming, and even a night timelapse showing hikers' headlamps descending Tryfan under the stars.
Clip Pack #114 – Glyderau, Snowdonia National Park – Winter Views: Offers 62 clips (drone and timelapse) focusing on the Glyderau range in winter. Features Tryfan's Adam & Eve stones bathed in golden winter light, icy slopes on Glyder Fach/Fawr, low cloud inversions swirling below the peaks, and Snowdon visible above the clouds. The timelapses here are exceptional, capturing shifting light on jagged, frosty rock.
The Shropshire Hills, England: Accessible Winter Beauty
While perhaps less extreme than Snowdonia, the Shropshire Hills offer their own brand of winter magic, which I've captured extensively.
Clip Pack #23 - Shropshire Hills winter landscape: This pack (85 clips) specifically targets snow and frost conditions. Expect drone footage of Caer Caradoc, the Long Mynd, and The Lawley blanketed in white, often under beautiful dawn/dusk light. Crucially, it includes stunning drone and timelapse sequences of cloud inversions and fog filling the valleys below the snow line – a truly magical sight. Winter wild camping and hiking scenes add context.
Clip Pack #152 – A Cold Night on the Long Mynd: While not exclusively snow, this pack (128 clips) captures the feeling of a deep winter cold snap. Frosty landscapes, clear cold skies, mist rising from valleys, wild ponies in the cold air, and detailed camping footage reflecting the conditions. Includes stunning night-to-dawn timelapses showing light trails from distant towns under freezing skies.
Clip Pack #36 - Yearlet and the Long Mynd: Features footage from a crisp, cold January trip, including that incredible starlight-to-sunrise timelapse and drone shots capturing the clear, cold winter atmosphere.
Clip Pack #18 - Caer Caradoc, Shropshire Hills: Documents a wild camp in freezing temperatures and thick fog, showcasing the atmospheric, sometimes challenging, conditions of winter hill trips.
Why My UK Winter Footage Stands Out
Authenticity: This isn't simulated snow or easily accessed viewpoints. This is footage captured through genuine effort – hiking miles in harsh conditions, camping in sub-zero temperatures, understanding mountain weather to be in the right place (safely!) when the magic happens.
Professional Quality: Despite the challenging conditions, the footage is captured in 4K UHD using professional drones, cameras, and techniques, ensuring cinematic quality suitable for broadcast and film.
Unique Perspectives: Drones allow me to capture snow-covered landscapes, frozen lakes, and cloud inversions from angles impossible otherwise. Timelapses reveal the dynamic movement of winter weather systems.
Simple Licensing: As always, no extra fees for 4K or broadcast/film use. You get premium footage with straightforward, professional usage rights.
