Smoke Man - A short film with the Sony ZV-E1

Filmed with Sony ZV-E1

Check out this short film created with the Sony ZV-E1 on YouTube.

I was testing some new gear in my local woodland, making smoke, and trying not to get arrested.

Some of the shots were great. The smoke and sunlight created a wonderful environment to push the colour grading on this great little camera. I didn’t really have a plan; I just wanted to test it and bank a few shots. When I got home, I put together this little short film, and although there’s definitely no plot (I’ve lost the plot…), it turned out pretty cool.

Here are a few screengrabs…

All the footage was shot in 4K 25P and created into the short film in a FCP 2.35:1 project.

SLOG3, with standard Sony LUT, desaturated 50-75%, shadows slid into the blue, highlights slightly into the orange.

I used the Sony ZV-E1 camera a Sony 20mm f1.8 and a Samyang 85mm t1.5
