Wet Glyder Fach Hike and Wild Camp - Snowdonia National Park Stock Video Footage

Sometimes the best footage comes from the most challenging conditions, and trust me, this hike up Glyder Fach in Snowdonia was nothing short of gruelling. It was a full-on battle against the elements – drenched to the bone, trudging through thick mud, and dealing with a tent that was more sieve than shelter. But… I think that’s part of the adventure.

The "Great" Tent That Wasn’t So Great

The tent, I thought, would be my salvation. I found it the previous week buried in the loft – a memory from a Duke of Edinburgh course 25 years ago. It looked great, pristine even. But reality hit hard when I set it up. Leaking like a sieve, it turned my sleeping bag into a soaked mess, and I spent the night on a punctured air bed, in puddles of water. Camera gear? Completely drenched. Wet feet? Absolutely. My spirit? Well, let’s just say it was a mix of determination and disbelief.

Rugged Beauty in the Rain

Despite the relentless rain and thick fog, I was determined to make the most of the experience. And that’s when the magic happened. Through the rain, the mist, and the constant drizzle, I captured some raw footage that perfectly encapsulates the untamed beauty of Snowdonia. From fast-flowing streams and waterfalls crashing against rocks, to the eerie fog hanging low over the Glyder Fach summit, these shots are not the kind of thing you get in good weather.

Timelapse and Wild Nature in Full Force

I also included a couple of timelapse sequences – one showing the ever-moving clouds over the Ogwen Valley, and another of water flowing quickly down the rocky slopes of the mountain. It was cold, miserable, and honestly, I wasn’t sure I was going to make it to the summit without throwing in the towel, but it was worth it for the footage.

The Magic of Snowdonia – In the Worst Conditions

The footage in this pack is perfect for anyone looking for something raw and real. It captures the wet, foggy side of Snowdonia, offering a unique view of this rugged landscape that can’t be replicated when the sun is shining. From the rocky paths and wooden stiles over old stone walls, to the vibrant pink heather and fast-moving streams – it’s a glimpse of Snowdonia that you don’t often get to see.
