Limited Edition Canvas
I’m not an artist, I was never into sketching, colouring, or painting. I don’t speak and hear in colour, I’m not eccentric, and I don’t visit galleries to wax lyrical about the feelings portrayed by what appears to be a few chicken scratches on a bit of old paper under a spotlight.
And with that insulting opening sentence, I’d like to present to you… The Art Locker. This began after a few requests to get my shots made into wall canvas. I sought the help of some professionals, and after some great results, I launched the store.
It turns out that I’m actually an OK artist, and I’m gobsmacked to have sold many thousands of pounds worth of “art” to people and companies who have liked the often obscure and abstract way I capture images. I think it follows my personality somewhat, I’m a bit contrarian, and a bit “anti”.
I don’t watch mainstream TV or the news, I’m anti-mainstream. I listen to what is described as anti-music. I refuse to create my YouTube videos in a way that pleases the algorithm, I’m anti-YouTube, anti-social media, anti-BS, and I refuse to follow “photography rules”, I’m anti-photography rules.
Whatever, here’s my anti-art, with some featured posts, and the full Art Locker listings below. Cheers
Take a look at the Limited Edition Wall Canvas Collection
This collection holds some of my finest work and is made available on thin wall canvas only, in limited numbers. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
You’ll find everything from awe-inspiring clouds over rugged Welsh mountains to low ground-hugging fog in the English countryside.
Behind the Scenes - Tryfan at Night
Tryfan at night was painstakingly created with multiple overnight missions into Snowdonia.
It was finally captured on a long cold winters night in January 2023. Late afternoon snow showers gave way to a glimpse of clear sky as cars lit the Ogwen Valley beside Llyn Ogwen.
I was settled in for the night on the side of Pen yr Ole Wen mountain with a couple of Sony cameras at the ready, with cold hands and an icy beard.
It’s now avaialbe as a wall art print and limited edition thin canvas.
Behind the Scenes - Snowdonia National Park
Snowdonia National Park was captured in 2018.
I had climbed high up into the mountains with a friend and a brand-new high-end drone.
We left the cars behind at Pen-y-Pass car park at 3 am and climbed the icy slopes of Crib Goch with far too much photography gear.
What at first looked like might be a wasted hike, turned into a remarkable moment as the sun rose just enough to find a gap in the low cloud, revealing a snow-covered Crib Goch foreground, with Snowdon summit towering over Llyn Llydaw.
The sun kissed the lens of the drone to create a little glare, and the image was captured with no time to waste, as it lasted no longer than 2 or 3 minutes.
A truly remarkable image of a remarkable place. Snowdonia National Park, in limited edition wall canvas.
The Art Locker - Behind the Scenes
Wall Art Prints
The Art Locker has a selection of some of my highest quality work available for purchase, currently, as either wall art prints or slimline canvas.
Wall art prints are best described as museum-quality posters on thick matte paper. This thick paper (0.26mm) is sourced from Japan and the high-resolution image is then printed in an enhanced matte finish by a master printer, not me. I’ll leave that to the professionals.
I then carefully roll it into a triangular cardboard tube and ship it to your door. The thickness of the paper and packaging ensures that you receive the highest quality wall art print that I’ve found possible to create. It can then be unrolled and stuck on your wall as a print or poster, or framed to suit your space.
The enhanced matte finish has been chosen to subtlety enhance the detail by reducing light reflection. I believe that this is the most appropriate printing technique to present my work, and I do not offer a glossy finish.
Thin Canvas
A selection of my work is made further available on canvas. I’ve chosen not to make available “Regular Canvas” as a matter of taste. Instead, opting to use only “Thin Canvas”.
My slimline canvases come in at only around 0.75” or 19mm thick. I’m really not a fan of those old-fashioned thick chunky canvases, but I love being able to offer this beautiful slimline version.
High-resolution images are printed onto a high-quality polyester/cotton blend canvas (approx 344g/m2) and stretched over pine wood.
I then have it well packaged and shipped directly to your door.
A small selection of images has been made available in the “Limited-Edition Collection” in small numbers, often below 5 due to exclusivity.
Image Quality
The Art Locker collection has been produced over many years using a huge variety of cameras.
I believe that capturing the perfect image is 90% “where you put the camera”, you’ll find more about this on YouTube and in my BLOG. That remaining 10% is crucial, camera technology evolves quickly and I’m often playing catchup. You’ll find my current load-out in the MY GEAR section of this website, but in summary, I’ve ensured that everything available in The Art Locker is of the finest quality. I’ve used cameras ranging from £400 to over £400,000 in the previous couple of decades and I’m pleased to be able to recognise and offer only the finest quality.
As an example, THIS aerial image, Worcestershire Winter Sunrise, is the latest artwork to enter The Art Locker.
It’s available in up to a huge 24’’ x 36” vertical slimline canvas. I’m able to do so because it was captured with a high-end drone that produced a 39.1MB file with 195 megapixels. The detail is incredible, as shown below with a huge zoom, and I’m delighted to offer this type of quality throughout The Art Locker.
These items are genuinely made to order, they are not “in stock” anywhere. This means that you’ll receive brand new freshly made items, however, it does take more time to complete. Please allow up to a couple of weeks for your order. For this reason, I am also unable to accept any returns, please double-check the sizes. Thank you for your order.
